ISBE Listening Session (for Student Succeeds Act)

Every Student Succeeds Act Statewide Listening Tour Round #2

ISBE is holding a second round of listening tours at 13 sites around the state to gather feedback to the draft of a State ESSA Plan.  The session in our area is:

Wednesday, September 7

4:30-6:30 PM

Moline Senior High School

3600 Avenue of the Cities, Moline

We need your help in providing this feedback as the State Board is interested in hearing from IEA members.  Please see the attached piece that outlines IEA’s best thinking about a State ESSA plan (this has been approved by the IEA Executive Committee) (9.7.16 MtgInvite/RoundTwoTalkingPoints).

We want to make sure that we have members ready to speak at these sessions and hope you’ll help us with this project.  We’re happy to work with members if they need help with remarks.  What we need from you is a personalized appeal to the State Board and a personal story explaining how ESSA will impact your lives in the classroom and why this is important to you and your students.

Please contact our office (309) 797-4126 OR email leslie.kahler@ieanea.org if you’re planning to attend and if you’d like any assistance in preparing remarks to the Board.

Gabe’s Gift Memorial 5K & 1-Mile Fun Run

Hello everyone,

The time has once again come for this year’s memorial race in honor of Gabriel.  The link below will take you to the registration site for the 5K and the mile.  We’re going to be providing a chip-timed event this year!  Please consider signing up to participate.
If running just isn’t your thing but you are still interested in helping out, we are looking for volunteers to sign up and participate in the fun that way.  Many jobs to be done to make this event a success.  If this is you, please click the link below and sign up!
I am attaching two documents that are very important to our cause.
  1. Our race flyer with all of the information about the event.  Please share, print, and forward this information to friends and family who might be interested in participating (Gabe’s Gift Memorial 5K race flyer – 2016).
  2. A sponsor / contributor information sheet for those who wish to donate to the cause that way.  All the information about perks for business and personal donations is included on this sheet.  Again, please pass this on to those who would be interested (GabesGiftMemorial5KSponsorSheet).
Finally, there is much more information on our Facebook page (Gabe’s Gift Memorial 5K Race) so please “Like” this page for more updates.
Thanks so much to everyone for your willingness to help out! We are so excited to see how this year’s event will turn out! Hope to see you there…
Thanks!
